WHY IS RED THE COLOR OF CHRISTMAS? It s not because of Santa Claus, holly berries, or bright scarlet ribbons on front door wreaths. It s not because of candy canes, wrapping paper, or blinking LED lights on your neighbor s eaves. Those are only surface things, shallow things. The real truth plunges deeper than an ocean and soars higher than the stars. It s as old as time and forever new. RED whispers to listening hearts...that Christmas joy was purchased for us at an unspeakable price. RED is the color of blood...the blood of Jesus, who gave His own life on a Roman cross to pay for our sins. RED reminds us...that the Son of God born in Bethlehem 2,000 years ago came to not only live among us, but to die for us. RED stirs us...to receive the greatest Gift ever given, and to give our lives back to the Giver.
